I don't really like 'must read' lists because I think they make things boring - in the end only a tiny percentage of books end up being read by a vast majority of people, and the vast majority of books are read by only a tiny percentage. But I like the sound of this book because it sounds like it stretches the boundaries quite a bit with some little-known titles, and books in translation etc. For me it is much more exciting to discover an underrated treasure than to read the same book everyone else is reading.
